How my Air Force knowledge helped me in the semiconductor fab

With a background in United States Air Force avionics systems and leadership - Austin looked to transition to another industry and found success in semiconductors. He has since been offered a permanent placement in Chandler and is excited to continue his new career in the semiconductor industry.

After transitioning out of the Air Force and working in aerospace and defense, I looked to Retronix Semiconductor to help me transition into a new field of work. I worked as a Site Manager for 9 months supporting the installation of equipment in the fabs. I had found Retronix job postings online and felt that it would be a great fit for me coming from working on aircraft avionics systems and having experience leading teams. I decided that Retronix would be a good fit due to their willingness to help with countless questions and they were quick to provide me with everything I needed to be successful in my new role.

On a 1-5 scale, I would rate my time with Retronix Semiconductor as a 5 because I was fortunate to work in a position that provided me with excellent exposure into the field of automation in the semiconductor industry. The greatest part of working for them was the assistance I received from my manager to prepare me for my interview with the customer and being there on my first day of work to ensure I had the proper equipment, schedule, and information to ensure that I would be successful.

I would tell someone looking to apply for a position with Retronix Semiconductor to be open-minded and ready to take on new challenges.

I had never considered working the in the semiconductor industry prior to my experience working with Retronix, and now it’s the field I hope to continue my career in.

People may not realize that their skills can be transferred into the semiconductor industry and help them much more than they know. I worked with other Retronix Semiconductor employees that had dynamic backgrounds that helped in their continued success. Some were veterans, some worked in engineering, some worked in aerospace, and the list goes on. After my role with Retronix, I have accepted a position with a large customer here in Chandler, Arizona and am extremely excited to continue my career in semiconductors.
