I retired from The United States Air Force in 2015, seemingly too young to retire but too old to learn anything else, at least that’s how the job market had me feeling. Because of injuries sustained in the line of duty, there was no going back to the profession I had lived for 28+ years.
Employment opportunities were scarce and what I could find as a newcomer was unfulfilling and just paid the bills at best. I was offered a job with Retronix Semiconductor as an IQ technician. The schedule was amazing, and the opportunity to be part of the world’s leader in technology was something I never imagined. The hiring process was painless and quite easy. If I had questions there was someone available right away to answer them. The guys on the team immediately took to mentoring me, encouraging me and providing me with the tools and support to learn my job.
This opportunity that was given to me goes so far beyond employment. This opportunity was implemental in restoring confidence, self, worth, being part of a team, and feeling like a professional again.
These are things I thought I had lost when I made the transition from Military to Civilian life. The community at Retronix Semiconductor is the best I have ever experienced in a Civilian workplace. The sense of friendship, family, and work-life balance is above and beyond what I ever could have imagined.
To say I was given a job is an understatement. To say I was given the opportunity to grow is spot on.
